Sevier-Farb Residence

The Sevier-Farb Residence, in Sudbury, MA is a contemporary style home sited with the long axis of the house facing south on a small hill. It is an excellent example of a passive solar design but with integrated PV and solar thermal on a generous south facing roof. A geothermal heat pump has been installed to provide a backup heat source for space and domestic hot water. Tight construction, an open, airy design, and a generous quantity on south facing windows with sufficient thermal mass create a house that is a zero energy candidate.
